…because most people speak neither German nor English.
…because there are only two McDonalds and no Svarovski outlet (as far as I can tell).
…because in the first half hour there I got smiles from at least five hot girls in scanty clothing. (After that, I stopped noticing).
…because the cabbage that came with the leg of rabbit was of unsurpassed tastiness.
…because you actually feel that you are in a different country.
…because there is a shop selling ‘mesni burek’.
…because the bars were full with people watching ice-hockey and yelling good-humoured abuse (as far as I could tell).
…because of ‘urbanism festival’: students from the faculty of architecture who are about to take their exams first have to organise and take part in an art happening that takes over the action on main square for sixty minutes. Amongst other things, we saw people playing asphalt volleyball, meditating for world peace, making classical music from atop advertisement pillars and from inside the water fountain, taking stuffed pets for a walk, and wrapping the public phone booths in toilet paper. Reclaim the streets!

All in all, the vibe is one of youthfulness and creativity – reminding me of Ljubljana a lot, and that fact alone weighs heavily in my judgement, as will come as no surprise to you…

Das Problem kennen wir Blogger alle, dass irgendwann niemand mehr den Blog liest. Aber was will man machen.
Ich kenne Brno nicht, schade. Aber die Begründungen klingen durchaus schlüssig.

bei so manchen blogs wundert man sich schon , dass sie noch existieren, da doch ihre lektüre nichts als vertane lebenszeit ist...
Hierzu einige Gedanken von Kapuscinski: "Es gibt der Welten viele, und jede ist anders.Jede ist wichtig...denn die anderen Kulturen sind wie Spiegel, in denen wir uns und unsere Kultur sehen.Es ist unmöglich, die eigene Identität zu bestimmen, solange wir sie nicht mit anderen konfrontiert haben." - Aber nicht die eigene, voreilig gefasste Meinung dem anderen überzustülpen-und wie kann man Böhmen mit Mähren vergleichen wollen,das wäre wie Bayern mit Preussen-oder Prag mit Brünn wie Apfel und Birne!!!

Keine Ahnung was schlecht an einem Swarowski Outlet wäre, jedenfalls gibt es in Brünn eine andere Kristallfirma die hier ein Outlet betreibt, ansonsten ist Brünn wohl am besten mit beschaulich zu beschreiben, was aber nicht das schlechteste ist wenn man hier lebt, so wie ich es tue. Sicherlich gibt es auch hier abseits der Touristenpfade einige Sachen die nicht so optimal sind, und über die wir Deutschen eher den Kopf schütteln...
